fall favorites

Fall is my favorite season. The leaves are beautiful shades of color, the crispness in the air, the coffee shop uptown has pumpkin fudge and pumpkin spice latte--all my fall favorites.

embracing change

Or at least trying to. It seems Monday will be the day that Patrick moves shifts. There are lots of positives to him moving shifts--one being a more normal sleep schedule. How odd it will be actually have my husband in bed with me at night.

We both had a good laugh over the fact that when he moved from second shift to third shift last summer we both didn't want to go to a different shift, dreaded third actually. Now here we are going back to a shift that has always worked well for our family, a change that would have been welcomed with open arms last fall and we are resisting a bit.

I think the toughest part is just readjusting everything. Being a third shifter is just a different experience that you can't understand unless you have lived it.

Changes here just seem to be so much more unsettling with all the unknowns we have. We still don't have a firm move date. The location isn't really set in stone either. *sigh* That really makes any sort of planning of anything--major life decisions, travel--really difficult. Hopefully, after the new year we will have a few more answers.

As the holidays are approaching I am realizing this will be our last Thanksgiving and our last Christmas in our house here. It is where we brought Milo home to after he was born, it is where he spent his first holidays, it is where all his firsts are happening. It is going to be so hard to leave this area.

progress

The first ones are longies I am working on. A beautiful colorway, harvest, dyed by Nurturing Threads.

These are what Patrick is working on. They will have stripes in brown orange and green down the legs.

on a ride

Patrick pulled Milo around in the yard today in the wagon that his grandpa Flowers made him. Every time Patrick would stop Milo would try to make it go again.

oh crap!

stretch, stretch, yawn

I love watching Milo wake up. Everything is slowed down and he is so cuddly.

melting daddy's heart

Milo blew his very first unprompted kiss tonight and the receiver was daddy. I could see Patrick's heart melt.

change is good, right?

Even if it means a totally different schedule? It looks like Patrick is going back to second shift, will have even more to keep track, and will have longer hours. It means reshuffling everything with our schedule. I guess we will get used to it just like we did third shift, but change is just hard and frustrating.

The change also means the nightime routine we have going with Milo will be thrown out the window. We will just go back to me putting him to bed and nursing him to sleep. I think I will work on getting him to sleep earlier though.

He has really been fighting letting Patrick put him to sleep the last week or so anyway. He seems to know what time Patrick has to leave in the evening and wants to spend every second he can with his dad playing instead of snoozing! After Patrick leaves he settles down fairly quickly and sleeps well for the night anyway.

I think Milo's sleep issues a few weeks ago was just the normal 9 month (a little late) sleep regression. Especially because he is back to sleeping so well again.

pumpkin patch

We woke on Saturday to beautiful fall weather and took a drive to Haig Farm. We visited the pumkin patch, went on a hayride, and visited the llamas. Milo found his very own tiny pumpkin and is enjoying rolling it around the house.

smash!

Accidents always suck. At least I was by myself. On the way home from the dentist (my teeth are perfect!) some kid ran into me from behind. He just wasn't paying attention to the fact that a huge truck in front of me had slowed down to allow the pedestrians through the cross walk. He was busy trying to light his cigarette.

A cop saw the whole thing, but didn't issue any tickets. I suppose all kids make a mistake or two and should be given the benefit of the doubt. I was a time or two, remembering something about a red corvette and the back end of the car in front of me.

Since we were in town the kid wasn't going very fast, so no real damage. I had the truck looked at today just in case. I also talked to the car seat inspector to make sure I didn't need to worry about the car seat.

So aside from a little neck ache no real harm was done.

still holding on

mad hatter

Milo didn't really want his picture taken or to wear the hat when I took the picture. It was a fun quick project. I think I could have made the smaller size, but this will fit a bit longer.
