On my way!

I have very recently started to learn to knit. I am teaching myself from the help of a book (Stitch 'N Bitch) and http://www.knittinghelp.com/ . I started learning the English method, but last night decided I liked the Continental method better.

I am now working on a scarf. In the next few weeks I hope to start on longies for Milo, my real motivation in learning to knit. Here is my little swatch that I made last night when I was playing around.

officially crawling!

Milo is officially crawling on hands and knees. Saturday he crawled across the bed. Today he crawled across the kitchen floor to see what I was putting in the fridge and freezer when we got home from grocery shopping.

He was already able to go all over, but still exciting.

doing our part

...for the environment. Every year we pick a few things that we can change in our daily lives that will benefit the environment and help to keep our planet clean for future generations.

Our newest change is using cloth produce bags instead of the plastic one that you find in the produce section at your grocery store. I found them at http://www.reusablebags.com/ .

Some of the changes we have made include using cloth bags for groceries & shopping trips, cloth produce bags, cloth diapers, cloth wipes, cloth sanitary pads (mama cloth - http://hyenacart.com/HomemadeMama/ ), cloth napkins, cloth papertowels (unpaper towels), real silverware in packed lunches, reusable bags for snacks and sandwiches ( http://www.happy-sacks.com/ ), sigg water bottles for outings, eliminated plastic tupperware type containers. We also reuse and recycle what we can.

What are you doing to keep the planet clean?

A few pics of Milo playing with the produce bags we got in the mail yesterday.

showing off

standing and a new diaper

milestones!

Milestones seem to be coming left and right.

Milo is definately talking with intention now. He is saying mama, dada, and bye bye. He waves good bye. He army crawls, trying very hard to get hands and knees crawling. He is pulling himself up to standing. He will pucker up and give you a kiss if you ask him to. That just makes my heart melt. He also started blowing like he is trying to blow out a candle.

It is all happening so quickly.

signing

Today is the first day that Milo signed back--milk! He wanted some mama milk. Patrick and I both got to see it, so cool.

We started signing with Milo shortly after he was born. We only do a few signs for now, but will add more as he is ready for them.

what a "handy" man

Patrick decided to try his hand at making some wood toys for Milo since we are avoiding plastic and battery operated toys. He did a great job on his first and it has been Milo approved!

9 months old!

I should have started blogging long ago. Here I am now, better late than never. This is our Happy Family and a glimpse inside.

Wow, 9 months old already! I feel like someone pushed fast forward after Milo was born. I keep wondering if it ever slows down.

It is amazing to watch him discover the world. He is very quiet and observant at first--really studying what is going on--so much like Patrick.
